Dr. Shiva Kermanshi, DMD | Orthodontist | Dentofacial Orthopedics
Dr. Shiva Kermanshi was born and raised in Tehran, Iran and moved to California with her family after she graduated from high school. After she earned her Associate Degree from Santa Monica College, she attended UCLA where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology with Suma Cum Laude honors. She then moved to Boston where she received her degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University with Magna Cum Laude honors. While in Boston, she volunteered her services annually for the physically and mentally challenged children through the Special Olympics, Special Smiles Program. Dr. Kermanshi was also involved in services pertaining to underprivileged youth through the Outreach Van Project.
Dr. Kermanshi earned her degree in Orthodontics from Howard University in Washington, DC, achieving the highest academic average amongst her colleagues during her postgraduate study. Her two-year specialty residency included advanced education in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, early treatment for children, adult orthodontics, Invisalign certification, and orthodontics for patients undergoing orthognathic surgery.
Dr. Kermanshi is a member of Northern Virginia Dental Association, Virginia Dental Society, American Dental Association, Middle Atlantic Society of orthodontists, DC Society of orthodontists, and American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Kermanshi prides herself in providing the highest quality of care in the most gentle and efficient manner possible. She has been practicing orthodontics since 2004 and has had the privilege of treating a diverse patient population at any age group.
She embraces challenge as an opportunity to excel herself in her practice and gives her patients the beautiful smile they had always dreamed of. She has also volunteered her services to many underprivileged children over the years and has treated many physically and mentally challenged children with utmost care and passion. In her free time, Dr. Kermanshi enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, hiking, travelling, reading to her children, and writing poetry.
Dr. Paola Sugajara, DDS | Prosthodontist | Cosmetic & General
Dr. Paola Sugajara is a Board eligible Prosthodontist. She graduated from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima - Peru in 2001, earning her DDS degree in 2002. After getting her dental degree, Dr. Sugajara traveled abroad to do a fellowship in the Fixed Prosthodontist Department at Tohoku University, Japan, from 2002 to 2005.
Her eagerness and passion for Dentistry leaded her to specialize in Prosthodontics from 2013 to 2016 at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Rochester - New York, where she also graduated from a 2-year program in Advance Education in General Dentistry, followed by GPR programs in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
Dr. Sugajara provides the highest quality of dental care to her patients. Her goal is to achieve her patients’ satisfaction by combining her creativity and the expertise she gained though her intense education and training.
She is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontic Society and Restorative Cosmetic Dentistry in Virginia. When her schedule allows her, she likes to travel abroad, visit different countries and learn more about different cultures, as well as visiting her family in Peru. She also enjoys indoor activities with friends, such as bowling and dining out, among others.
Dr. Robert Kim, DDS, MS | Prosthodontist | Cosmetic & General
Dr. Kim grew up in Southern California and later attended UC San Diego where he earned his B.S. degree in Biology & B.A. degree in Economics. He then moved to New York where he received his DDS degree from New York University College of Dentistry with the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon honors. During dental school, Dr. Kim was accepted to the highly competitive US Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program where he started his active duty services as a military dentist.
Dr. Kim completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital in Las Vegas followed by Advanced Clinical Dentistry Preceptorship in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Dr. Kim provided advanced clinical dentistry to military members and their family members for 8 years before he decided to pursue advanced dental education in Prosthodontics.
Dr. Kim graduated from Air Force Postgraduate Dental School with the specialty degree and MS degree in Prosthodontics. During the training, he gained in-depth clinical experiences in full mouth rehabilitation, implant surgery and restoration, CAD/CAM digital dentistry, OSA and TMD management, implant supported hybrid prosthesis, and traditional prosthodontics.
Dr. Kim currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences where he staffs and mentors eight Advanced Education in General Dentistry program residents in Prosthodontics department. He is a passionate and caring dentist with 15+ years of extensive experience in dentistry.
Dr. Cliff Chen, DDS, MS | Periodontist & Implantologist
Dr. Cliff Chen DDS, MS, is a board-certified periodontist and implant specialist. Dr. Chen was born in the United States and raised in Taipei, Taiwan where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery with honors in 2006.
Dr. Chen then moved back to the U.S. and earned his Master of Science and specialty in periodontics from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in 2013. He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association and Virginia Dental Association. His is fluent in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Taiwanese.
Dr. Chen is experienced in all aspects of periodontics and dental implant procedures, such as bone graft, sinus lift, surgical placement of implant, gum/bone recontouring etc. He is known for near painless administration of anesthesia and an impeccable work ethics. During his free time, he enjoys playing golf, running, camping, and traveling with his family.
